Candice Jones-Simmons is a partner in the Conveyancing and Property Development Group in the Firm’s Trinidad office. She also has overall responsibility for the management of the Firm’s Tobago office.
Candice obtained her Bachelor of Laws degree with Upper Second Class Honours from the University of the West Indies in 2004 and her Legal Education Certificate (Certificate of Merit) from the Hugh Wooding Law School in 2006. She was admitted to the Trinidad and Tobago Bar in 2006 and commenced her legal career as a Judicial Research Assistant to one of Trinidad’s most accomplished and respected Judges of the Court of Appeal.
Thereafter, Candice worked at a highly regarded Port of Spain based Law Firm where she practiced conveyancing and civil litigation with a focus on contentious real property matters including mortgagee actions, breach of agreements for sale, construction of deeds, ejectment proceedings and honed her skills as a real estate attorney before joining Lex as a partner.
Candice has extensive experience in the delivery of legal services to commercial and private clients on a broad spectrum of real property transactions including but not limited to, the drafting and review of commercial and residential leases, sale and purchase of real estate as well as commercial and residential mortgages.
She complements her passion for the law of real property with her interest in academia as she also lectures on this practice area at the Faculty of Law at the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus.
