Daria A. Annel is an Associate in the Corporate, Commercial and Finance Department of Lex Caribbean’s Barbados office. Daria’s portfolio includes General Corporate Practice, Intellectual Property and the Administration of Estates.
Daria was awarded a Bachelor of Laws with First Class Honours from the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus in 2012 and she was admitted to the Barbados Bar in 2017. Daria’s dedication to academic excellence is complimented by her diverse experience and training.
During her enrollment at the Hugh Wooding Law School in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Daria participated in one of the many inter-school competitions where she seized the opportunity to hone her advocacy, communication and analytical skills. She later opted to complete her legal education by shadowing one of the esteemed attorneys of the Hugh Wooding Law School Legal Aid Clinic. This Clinic is geared at providing representation and legal advice to low-income earning members of the community. Her assigned cases focused on the Administration of Estates and Property Disputes. Daria’s social consciousness and commitment to serving her community are further evidenced by her involvement in a number of service driven organizations over the years, one in which she held a distinguished leadership position.
Several government departments in Barbados, including the Corporate Affairs and Intellectual Property Office and the Office of the Chief Parliamentary Counsel, also offered Daria internship opportunities which allowed her to develop her corporate knowledge, apt ability for legal drafting and interpretation and keen interest in Intellectual Property.
Since joining the team at Lex Caribbean, Daria has become actively involved in advising and lending support to the business community through her work with the Legal Affairs Committee of the Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Daria’s recreational interests include Ballroom and Latin dancing, as well as, acrylic painting.
