Nickardo Lawson is an Associate in Lex Caribbean's Dispute Resolution, Restructuring and Insolvency Practice Group and is based in the firm's Trinidad (Port-of-Spain) office. His practice focuses on all aspects of civil, commercial and employment dispute resolution. He is experienced in providing legal advice on breaches of various types of contracts, breaches of fiduciary duties, judicial review, debt collection, insurance, defamation and land disputes.
Nickardo was admitted to the Trinidad and Tobago Bar in 2013 after completing his Legal Education Certificate (LEC) at the Hugh Wooding Law School that same year. He completed his Bachelor of Laws, LLB (Hons) at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill in 2011 and his Bachelor of Science, B.Sc. (Hons) at the University of the West Indies, Mona in 2008.
Nickardo has developed a wealth of knowledge in industrial relations (labour) law and procedure and is frequently called upon by the firm's clients which includes financial institutions and oil and gas companies, to provide advice and representation on all aspects of industrial relations.
Nickardo frequently appears in the High Court, the Court of Appeal, the Industrial Court and the Tax Appeal Board either as advocate or instructing attorney.
Prior to joining Lex Caribbean in October, 2015, Nickardo was an associate in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Department of another large and well respected Trinidad firm at which he practised primarily as an instructing attorney.
