Let's TalkGarth Patterson K.C. is a Senior Partner in the Barbados office. He currently leads the Commercial Litigation, Restructuring and Insolvency Group.
A graduate of both the University of the West Indies and the Norman Manley Law School, Garth was called to the Bars of Jamaica and Barbados in 1987 and the Bars of New York and St. Lucia in 1990 and 2011 respectively. With over thirty five years of experience, Garth has distinguished himself in the areas of corporate and commercial law, property development and conveyancing, civil litigation, capital markets, project finance and insolvency and restructuring. In this connection, he was appointed to the office of Queen’s Counsel in October 2007 and continues to enjoy an illustrious career.
Garth has successfully led the firm through litigation and out of court contentious negotiations on behalf of large companies, multinational corporate groups, and government entities in the local, regional and international, hospitality, real estate, merchandising, telecommunications and financial sectors. He is also regularly invited to address professional associations throughout the Caribbean region on a myriad of legal issues.
Notwithstanding his firm commitments, Garth ensures that he contributes directly to the legal profession and the Barbados community through his regular legal and social commentary in the local media.
Garth is a member of INSOL International.
He is also an avid deep sea diver and motorcycle enthusiast.
