Janielee Kelly is an Associate in the Corporate, Commercial and Finance Department of Lex Caribbean’s Barbados office. Since joining the Lex team, her enthusiasm and zeal have led to a varied portfolio which includes real estate transactions involving conveyancing, the sale and purchase of shares of property holding companies and secured lending.
Janielee was awarded with a Bachelor of Laws with First Class Honours from the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus in 2014. She continued her pursuit of excellence at the Hugh Wooding Law School in Trinidad and Tobago where she was awarded “Most Outstanding Year I Student”, The Phelps & Co. Prize (Best Performance in Civil Procedure & Practice I) and The Peterson, Lambert, Peterson & Co Prize (Best Performance in Evidence & Forensic Medicine). She was also one of sixteen students who were selected to participate in the Human Rights Clinic, and while in the clinic she published an article in the Trinidad Guardian newspaper and was given a once in a lifetime opportunity to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity Trinidad and Tobago to assist with building a new home for a family in need. In addition to these achievements, she and her team of three other students developed a board game, which is aimed at spreading awareness about human rights. She completed her studies for the Legal Education Certificate in 2016 and was named on the Principal’s Honour Roll. She was also called to the Bar in Barbados that year.
Janielee’s enduring passion for the real estate industry is complemented by her commitment to providing high levels of service to her clients and finding creative and innovative solutions to her clients’ legal problems. Since joining Lex, she has been involved with many large property acquisitions and has been consulted by the New York Times for an insightful article on the Real Estate Industry in Barbados.
