Khayyam is an Associate in Lex Caribbean’s Commercial Litigation, Restructuring and Insolvency department, in the Barbados office. 

Prior to being called to the Barbados Bar in November 2020, he was awarded a Bachelor of Laws with First Class Honours from the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill, Barbados in 2018 and obtained his Legal Education Certificate from the Hugh Wooding Law School in 2020. 

While undertaking his legal education,  he completed summer internships at the Barbados Supreme Court, CARICOM’s Office of Trade Negotiations, the United Nations Barbados office, and other leading commercial law firms. He also represented the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus at the Caribbean Court of Justice’s International Moot Court Competition 2018. He managed a general legal practice before joining the firm in September 2022 during which time he also obtained a Master’s Degree in Corporate and Commercial Law with Merit from the University of the West Indies.

Khayyam works with the department in advising and representing clients on a wide range of contentious and non-contentious civil and commercial matters and holds particular interest in intellectual property and the insolvency process.  

Khayyam enjoys spending his spare time at the beach and is keen on the preservation of marine ecosystems.
