Michael Rivera

Michael Rivera is an associate in Lex Caribbean’s Commercial Litigation, Restructuring and Insolvency department in the Barbados office.

Prior to being called to the Barbados Bar in October 2023, he was awarded a Bachelor of Laws with First Class Honours from the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus, Barbados in 2021 and obtained his Legal Education Certificate from the Hugh Wooding Law School in 2023.

While undertaking his legal education, Michael has been awarded several scholarships including the George Walton Payne & Co. Trust Scholarship, the District Grand Land Scholarship and the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Academic Scholarship. In addition, he also participated in, and won, the Clarke Gittens Farmer Moot competition in 2020 and was the recipient of the best-written memorial.

Michael works with the department advising and representing clients on a wide range of contentious and non-contentious civil and commercial matters including but not limited to, Debt Collection, Employment Law and Civil Litigation. Michael also has a keen interest in Maritime Law and Sports Law.

Michael enjoys spending his spare time with friends and playing chess, cricket, lawn tennis and surfing.
