Michael Rivera is an associate in the Lex Caribbean’s Commercial Litigation, Restructuring and Insolvency department in the Barbados office.

Prior to being called to the Barbados in October 2023 and the Trinidad and Tobago Bar in November 2023, Michael was awarded a Bachelor of Laws with First Class Honours from the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus, Barbados in 2021. He later obtained his Legal Education Certificate from the Hugh Wooding Law School in September of 2023.

While undertaking his legal education, Michael has been awarded several scholarships including the George Walton Payne & Co. Trust Scholarship, the District Grand Land Scholarship and the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Academic Scholarship. In addition, Michael also participated in, and won, the Clarke Gittens Farmer Moot competition in 2023 and was the recipient of the best written memorial.

Michael works with the department advising and representing clients on a wide range of contentious and non-contentious civil and commercial matters including but not limited to, Civil Litigation, Debt Collection and Employment Law. Michael has a keen interest in Maritime Law and Sports Law.

Michael enjoys spending his spare time with friends, playing chess, cricket, lawn tennis and surfing.
